The final meeting in a series of seven tours, each of which explores a particular aspect of the life of trees.
The Arboretum is always busy in October because people love the autumn colour of trees. On this tour we'll look at the differences in colour of different trees at this time of year, and at the overall effect of their contributions to the landscape.
We'll meet in the cafe at 10:30am and then set out to walk at 11am.
(Normal admission applies)
Friends of Castle Howard are invited to visit the arboretum free of charge today. Just bring along your Friends Card and show it at reception.

This session looks at the importance of trees in our lives. Walking around the Arboretum as individuals, we can appreciate them in many ways, by sight, smell, hearing, touch, and feeling the effect on our well-being, but we can also glimpse the massive role that trees play in life more generally.

They evolved hundreds of millions of years ago before the broad-leaved trees that we know better and often prefer, but looking today at the collection of all the conifers with their magnificent architecture and colour will change your view of them.
We'll meet in the cafe at 10:30am and then set out to walk at 11am.

The third in a series of seven tours, each of which explores a particular aspect of the life of trees.
Some of the trees' ancestors have been here in this country for thousands of years while others have only recently arrived; the Yorkshire Arboretum is a place of extraordinary diversity. Today's tour will explore the different origins of our trees, looking at the tiny proportion that are native and finding out how the others got here.
We'll meet in the cafe at 10:30am and then set out to walk at 11am.

Follow the fun trails and each clue will lead you closer to your sticker, or ask for a collecting strip and see what you can find on your own adventure.

One in a series of seven tours, each of which explores a particular aspect of the life of trees.
This session will focus on how trees reproduce. We know some trees have beautiful flowers, but actually all have to have flowers or they wouldn't be here. As in animals, there are male and female partners, but they don't always live together, and often the flowers are not very obvious; this tour looks at what's going on to see how they do it.
We'll meet in the cafe at 10:30am and then set out to walk at 11am.
